The Session:

Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your session time. This gives us time to get introduced and prepared.  It's important not to be late, but if you do run late. please contact me at 508-397-4270. It is my goal to make your session a fun and memorable experience. Try not to stress!! Be candid during the session, and have fun. It's often those candid moments that come out the best - so don't be afraid to show affection, laugh, and jump for joy!

Outdoor Locations:

A great location can make for a great photograph. If you have not yet decided on a location for your outdoor session, now's the time to start thinking! We can go to parks, beaches, historic areas, or even your own home. Being in New England means there are so many beautiful places near us to choose from. Think about the look for feel that you want for your portraits. Do you want rustic? Elegant?  Does the location compliment that? I have a number of locations I frequently work at and you can find out more about them HERE.

What to Wear:

Whether your portraits are formal or casual, it is best to keep clothing simple. Bold and bright colors are great, but avoid busy patterns, pictures, or logos. Often a simple dress is best.  Remember to keep the “lower half” in mind! Some photos may get all the way down to your toes, so make sure socks match! Depending on the location, you are welcome to change outfits.

If you wear glasses, it is ok to keep them on during your session, as long as they are NOT "transition" type lenses! Wearing transition lenses means you will have sunglasses on for your pictures and we will not be able to see your eyes. Please opt not to wear glasses or bring a pair that does not darken outdoors.

Don’t forget a comb or brush, touch-up makeup, water, and other personal items you may need.

Siblings:

Soon-to-be big siblings are welcome in the session as well!  It is important that young children remain content during a portrait session. Please schedule a portrait session during a time of day that your child is upbeat and content and never during a normal nap time. Please have necessary items handy during your portrait session, including diapers, wipes, bottles, snacks, and a favorite toy or blanket.

Props and Announcements:

Personal props are welcome, and encouraged. They help personalize the portraits and what is happening to your family. Props can include signs, ultrasound pictures,  or baby items. Get creative!

Others opt to use their session as an announcement, such as a gender reveal. I love fun and creative ideas like this! If you are considering an announcement, please let me know ahead of time so that we can discuss ideas.
