A great location makes for a great photograph. Living in New England, there are so many beautiful places near us to choose from. I am often asked for suggestions for portrait locations. Below are samples from my favorite local spots:
Adams Farm, Walpole, MA
This rustic location includes a prominent red barn, a butterfly garden, fields and trails.
Bird Park, Walpole, MA
Bird Park is a gorgeous spot with lots of greenery. It is a fantastic location year round, but it is especially gorgeous in the fall. With paths, benches, water, and bridges, Bird Park provides a little bit of everything.

Borderland State Park, Easton, MA
Borderland State Park is a gorgeous location that includes gardens, the Ames mansion, water areas and rural landscapes. It is a popular spot for both senior portraits and familes.
Meeting spot: by the Visitor's Center, 259 Massapoag Avenue North Easton.
Please note: I only work at this location during August, September and October. There is a $2 parking fee. Pets are permitted, but must be on a leash.
Capron Park, Attleboro, MA
Capron Park offers beautiful archways, a gazebo, and a seasonal rose garden. A very visible playground might be distracting for some young children.

Chilson Beach at Beaver Pond, Franklin MA
A great local spot, Chisoln offers beachy photo opportunities, as well as some nice wooded areas and a rock wall. There is a visible playground, and the area can be crowded during local sporting practices and games.

Choate Park, Medway, MA
CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE DUE TO CONSTRUCTION
Choate Park is a nice, versatile spot for portraits. The park includes a stream, a pond, and lots of grass and trees. It is also home to the Thayer Home Place and Barn, which can add a beautiful rustic look to your photos.
Meeting spot: On the bridge near the first parking lot on Mechanic Street (off Route 109 - Main Street - Medway, MA)
DelCarte Conservation Area, Franklin, MA
This is a small waterside location that offers nice lighting, tall grasses, and wooded areas. It is great for small families and dogs. A very visible playground might be distracting (or rewarding!) for some young children)

Diamond Hill Park, Cumberland, RI
Diamond Hill State Park is a beautiful place with fields, a band shell overlooking a pond, and a charming covered bridge.

Elm Bank Reservation, Wellesley, MA
This stunning reservation consists of numerous formal gardens as well as the historic Manor House. There is so much diversity all in one location!
Meeting spot: The Welcome Garden at the entrance to the horticultural center, parking lot "c", 900 Washington Street (Route 16) Wellesley.

Hopedale Pond, Hopedale, MA
A popular shot, this location includes the beautiful pond, flowers along the charming Little Red Shop Museum, and the old Draper Building.

Hopkinton State Park, Hopkinton, MA
A great spot for "beachy" photos without a drive to the shore, Hopkinton State Park offers so much! This sizable location offers two beaches and many picnic areas for a diverse set of backgrounds.

The Monastery, Cumberland, RI
This is a unique spot situated at the remains of a former Cistercian Monastery. It provides interesting stonework as well as lots of greenery and flowers.
Meeting spot: The yard in front of the library entrance, 1464 Diamond Hill Rd. Cumberland, Rhode Island
The Nature Trail at Patriot Place, Foxboro, MA
A little gem of a spot, the Nature Trail is a scenic location that features the last remaining active cranberry bog in the town of Foxborough. The boardwalk, paths, and wooden fences make for a simple, yet picturesque landscape.
Meeting spot: The pavilion behind Bass Pro Shop.

Oak Grove Farm, Millis, MA
This beautiful spot includes lots of trails, fields and flowers. A very visible playground might be distracting (or rewarding!) for some young children).

Riverbend Farm, Uxbridge, MA
This is a beautiful and diverse location with everything from a pond, a field, bridges, and the barn. Riverbend Farm is a great rustic spot for every type of portraits.

Sculpture Park, Franklin, MA
The Franklin Sculpture Park is a small spot but a versatile option for those local to the area! Flowers and sculptures can provide a whimsical look for your portraits!

Stonybrook Sanctuary, Norfolk, MA
A boardwalk along the water, wooded paths, fields, and a butterfly garden make Stony Brook a beautiful and diverse spot for portraits.

Tangerini's Spring Street Farm, Millis, MA
The perfect New England location in any season! This operating farm always has fresh produce and flowers on display for gorgeous backgrounds. Barn walls provide rustic textures, and open fields make for stunning photos.

Warren Conference Center & Inn, Ashland, MA
A gorgeous rustic location with beautifully manicured grounds, the Warren Center features a beautiful barn, a garden pond, and a gazebo.
